What is teledentistry for elderly patients?

Teledentistry for elderly patients allows remote consultations with a dentist via video or phone, enabling initial evaluations, second opinions, follow-ups, and determining if an in-person visit is needed—all from the comfort of home.

Who can benefit from teledentistry?

Homebound elderly patients, patients in assisted living or memory care facilities, or those with limited mobility or cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s can benefit from teledentistry services.

What dental services can be provided via teledentistry?

Teledentistry can be used for initial dental evaluations, second opinions, follow-up consultations, guidance on oral care, and determining whether a home visit is necessary for procedures such as cleanings, fillings, or extractions.

Is teledentistry safe for elderly patients?

Yes. Teledentistry is safe for elderly patients as it reduces stress and transportation risks, allows care in a familiar environment, and enables coordination with caregivers and family members for safe and effective guidance.

Do you work with caregivers during teledentistry consultations?

Yes. Geriatric House Call Dentistry coordinates with caregivers, family members, and assisted living staff to ensure the patient’s comfort, explain recommendations, and provide guidance for any follow-up care.

How do I schedule a teledentistry consultation for an elderly patient?

You can schedule a teledentistry consultation by contacting Geriatric House Call Dentistry through their website or care coordination team. They will gather patient information, confirm eligibility, and arrange a convenient remote consultation.
