Techniques and tools we use for non-cooperative patients
It’s no secret that as we age our bodies start to break down. This can be especially true for our teeth, which can start to rot and decay. For elderly patients with Alzheimer’s disease, this can be a difficult reality to face. In many cases, traditional dental treatments are not an option for these patients due to their condition.
Rotting teeth is a common problem among Alzheimer’s patients because they are not able to take care of their teeth as well as they used to or maybe never could. This can lead to tooth decay and other problems such as gum disease.
Telscope by Holland Healthcare
The Telscope allows us to take high-resolution photos and videos of the patient’s mouth which we can then show the patient to help them understand why we need to work on their oral issue. This approach is better than trying to convince a patient without showing them what the issue is. The captured images can be shared to the patient’s family members and caregiver. The Telscope comes with disposable blades to ensure that it is clean and safe for the patient.
Proflourid L by Voco
The Proflourid L by Voco contains sodium fluoride that works immediately to give the patient relief and calcium deposits which release fluoride over time.
