Top 5 Dental Things to NOT DO for Seniors

Aging is not always easy, but it doesn’t need be difficult or painful either! Taking care of your dental health as seniors should always be a top priority. Here’s a list of things you should definitely NOT do.

  1. Do not ignore early signs of oral issues.
    The early signs of oral issues are often subtle and easy to miss, but it’s worth looking out for them. These include white patches or bands in the mouth; bleeding when brushing teeth; and bad breath.

  2. Do not use alcohol-based mouthwash.
    The bacteria in your mouth is an ecosystem of its own. Alcohol-based mouthwash can disrupt this balance and lead to periodontal disease, which attacks tooth enamel over time – causing pain or even losing teeth completely!

    Brushing your tongue can prevent potential problems of the oral cavity such as tooth decay and periodontal disease. The presence of bacteria on the tongue can lead to halitosis or bad breath. Brushing your tongue on a regular basis can remove such harmful bacteria. Make it part of your daily oral care routine!
