What is a partial denture?
Partial dentures usually consist of replacement teeth that are made from acrylic which are then attached to a gum-colored base. This type of denture can have a metal framework and clasps that connect to existing teeth to provide support and help keep the partial denture in place.
What can be done if a partial denture breaks or if the teeth holding it in place needs to be extracted?
Having a denture break is more common than people might think so don’t feel bad if it happens to you or a loved one. If your denture gets damaged and needs to be repaired, keep in mind to never try to fix it yourself as this might lead to more damage and might end up being irreparable. We always recommend that you seek the help of a dentist when dealing with a broken denture.
A partial denture with a clasp relies on existing teeth to be held in place. It can be a problem when the teeth holding the partial denture need to be extracted but do not panic as the existing denture can still be used. We can have the partial denture sent to a lab where they can add the missing tooth.
